It's bad enough being hit with the double whammy of a falling stock market and falling housing prices. Now, we have to deal with skyrocketing gasoline prices again. The cost of a gallon of gas seems to be going up daily. Actually, for the last month, it pretty much has. According to
newjerseygasprices.com , the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.83, up 32 cents from a month ago and the highest it has been since reaching $2.95 around Memorial Day. This time a year ago, gasoline was selling for $1.99.
If it's any consolation, gas prices in New Jersey are the lowest in the nation - 6 cents below runnerup Missouri and 23 cents below the national average of $3.06, according to
AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report. Gas prices are up to $3.34 in California.

You forgot to mention the credit crisis, the 9 trillion dollar national debt, the now retiring baby-boom generation and the burden they will place on State & Federal budgets or that the dollar is falling in value against other currencies. When the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar; when we appear impotent to respond to rouge nations like Iran; when even former allies no longer look to the United States to provide leadership in the world; then it doesn't take a genius to see that we are in serious trouble.
I don't know about you, but I am preparing to live through an extended recession/depression. America's best days are behind her. God save us all.
Wait a minute.Didn't Nancy Pelosi tell us when the Democrats got into power they would get to the bottom of this gas crises?
So what have they done about it?
They accused Big Oil and the president in conspiring to raise the gas prices, but I don't hear anything from the Speaker of the House?
Yep, the Democrats have failed. And so did Dubya who, in his 2000 presidential campaign, promised that he would fix such a situation.
