Any questions for state Sen. Leonard Lance?

The state Senate Republican minority leader, Leonard Lance, will be meeting with the Press editorial board Tuesday morning. The main topic on his agenda will be Gov. Corzine's "asset monetization" plans. But we will be grilling him on a wide variety of topics. Any questions you would like us to pose to him? You can respond here or e-mail me privately at rbergmann@app.com.

Senator Lance, why didn't the Republican party, when it last had veto-proof majorities in both chambers of the Legislature, fail to deliver on its promise to provide the people of New Jersey with Initiative and Referendum? Would you support amending the New Jersey constitution so as to permit here in New Jersey a form of I&R that is comparable to what the people of California now enjoy?

Senator Lance:
Before the state even considers selling assets, why aren't our legislators, Republican and Democrat, screaming bloody murder to declare a moratorium on any spending until Pay-To-Play is wiped out at every level of government, State/County/Municipal? If Pay-To-Play were replaced by competitive bidding, wouldn't that be like putting the cork in the money bottle? Can't you and/or any legislators be talking out loud to the press and the legislature and the Governor's office and County and Municipal government big deals to embarrass them into putting a knot in spending. If anyone is serious, we want to hear it loud and clear.

Senator Lance:

Considering the increasingly corrupt and blatantly unethical behavior of state government over the last 25 years or more, and the inability or unwillingness of anyone or group in the legislature to do anything about it, can you think of any reason why any incumbent legislator should be re-elected in November?

Don't you think the people of New Jersey would look more stupid than they already do by re-hiring these same losers?

Speaking of ethics,
Dept of Community Affairs is sheltering one of their amusement ride inspectors. Arthur L'Hommedieu was caught driving his state car while being on the revoked list since the he was hired! 4 years! Instead of firing him they gave him a chauffeur!
Corruption at its finest!
